Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. Scanning.app has no sign-up, no login, and no cloud library. Open the app and scan.

Where are my scans stored?

On your phone, and only on your phone. Recent scans exist for convenience — you can delete any of them at any time, and deleting the app removes them all.

Does conversion work offline?

PDF creation is fully offline. Markdown conversion sends your pages to our server for AI processing and returns the result, so it needs a connection. See the privacy policy for exactly what that involves.

What does [unclear] mean in my Markdown?

It marks a word or number the scanner could not read confidently. We mark uncertainty instead of guessing — especially for amounts, dates, and names.

What’s the difference between AI Ready and Faithful?

AI Ready tidies page numbers, repeated headers, and paragraphs split across pages — ideal for pasting into AI tools. Faithful preserves the original page-by-page structure. Both are designed to preserve your content rather than rewrite it. Switch between them in Settings.

How many pages can I scan at once?

Up to 30 pages per document, from the camera or imported from photos and PDFs.
